84 brakes

a long metal clip fall off my brakes when i was replaceing the pads . the other side didnt have on it . where does it go and should the other side have it .

Pad clip

The clip i believe your refering to is a piece of spring steel that goes on top of the U shaped slide. It keeps the caliper tight to the spindle. I hope this helps.

It sounds like that is where clip goes. Yoy should go to parts store and get new one for other side or check your local wrecker and than you will see proper install, at same time. If put in wrong brakes could hang up. Make sure and clean all rust from caliper and slides when installing new brake pads.
