new to the group, and love it, but i have a confounding problem.
i installed a electronic ignition system in my 68 F100 240 cid yesterday.
the dizzy came out of a 85 300, it is a single diaphram dizzy, much like what the original was. wired it to what i was instructed to do, but i still am not getting my truck started, i am getting fire, but it wont start, any help would be of great acceptance, i have replaced the starter relay, just so that isnt in
question. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I agree with heep70. It sounds to me like the distributor is out of time in relation to the rest of the engine. Your timing light should help you solve this problem.
will check that out, have to turn the motor by hand, but i will give it a shot and get back to you next week, have to work tonight, so it will be out for a bit
thank you all for the help, got the old girl running today, and i think it makes a great difference, all that i have left is to iron out the timing, and make everything neat and pretty, as far as the wires go, and i will be finished.
as for the timing, manuals list that it should be 6 deg. above tdc, but as of right now, am not able to get close to that setting without stalling out the motor, so i believe i have to make some adjustments to the carb. and go from there. information is a valuable tool, so keep it coming, i will take all that i can get, especially from people more knowledgeable than myself.
thanks again,
