Hello. My name is Mike and I'm a Ford-aholic!!!(I hope this did'nt offend all the "Friends of Bill")I once walked six miles during the blizzard of 93 in 3 feet of snow rather than hitch a ride in a neighbors Chevy!!! Anyway I've been the proud owner of a few Highboys and camper specials but I recently decided to go with something bigger so I purchased a 1966 F750 on Ebay the other day.(Ebay item#7933384297)The truck currently does not run.It was an old oil truck for a paving company but looks to be pretty decent overall but still needing work.I purchased it with the intent of shorting it a little and replacing the Regular cab with a super or crew cab and if possible a stock 1966 Ford F-series bed and as well as a marmon-harrington 4X4 drive train but thats down the road a bit and will focus mainly on the cab and bed swap for now.The reason I am posting this is that since the truck currently does not run and being 400 miles from home I can't see paying $500 to $1000 to have a towing haul this for me so I plan on renting the biggest diesel U-Haul I can and towing this home with a custom tow Bar. It is in Indiana and I live near Pittsburgh Pa. I will be traveling across Ohio and was wondering if there might be any folks on this site who maybe could assist me in the event of a break down or maybe somebody out there in Ohio land may have a better idea than towing.Worst case I would just have to pay the towing company what they want but I'm on a limited budget so every penny I can save is a blessing. Please keep this in mind,it is a F750 with a fairly long wheel base and just guessing by the photo what looks to be a 5000-8000 gallon stainless steel tank mounted on the back as well as the additional smaller engine hooked to the tank and used for pumping purposes so I am guessing that this truck will tip the scales in the neighborhood of 30,000 pounds so I am prettly limited on my options so if there is anyone out there in the Great state of ohio or Indiana that could assist me in anyway, even if it is just for advice please let me know.I hate being stuck on the side of the road!!! Thanks in advance.
