I've got a 97 ranger with a heat/cool **** problem. Through messing around I've determined it is whatever exists between the heater door flap and the electric motor that controls it (plenum???). My dealer says I can get the part in-between for about $7.50. So my problem now is trying to get at this thing. So far I've spent 4 hours opening up the dash without removing any large pieces. Everything I have to get to is on the passenger side in clear view but hidden in that heater housing compartment. On top the electric motor has thre screws, two of which I removed, but having a problem with the other one in the back (might be able to get it though.
I'm wondering what the piece between the motor and door flap looks like and how I can get at it?
Right now I'd say it is sitting right beside the heater core, which looks like it would be impossible to ever take out. Not like the older broncos, etc of the late 80s. How would one take a heater core out then?
There must be a way to do this without removing the whole dash right up to the firewall. Any ideas?
