Idle?

I have a 1995 F150 with the 300 inline 6. When I go to start the truck it starts right away, but sounds like its revving a little high. Then when I sit there and watch my tach it sits at 1200-1400 then drops to like 800 then pops back up to 1200, and when I let it sit in nuetral after its warm it still fluctuates a good 3-400 rpms. Whats going on? Tune up was done so the pluges, wires, rotor, cap are all good. Power and gas milage is great.

Sounds like a sticking IAC. You may get by with cleaning it, but replacing it is usually the best solution.

What would I try cleaning it with before I end up replacing?

I use throttle body cleaner. I soak it for about 30min or so dry it out and put it back on. actually try this first. while the engine is idling unplug the IAC. If it's doing it's job it will change idle if it not it should die. If it does this clean or replace. More then likely you will need new one.
