I plan on doing the flip and then measure with my stock front springs intact. Probably be this spring sometime. I will get a formula together before all said and done.
This is stupid question but I have a 78 F-250 custom 4X4
is this a low boy or high boy? Stock it fit 33's pretty easily and
with 2.5" I have 35's on it now. I plan on going to 5" lift total.
I had my bed off to install some custom shock mounts I had made
and I see what you guys are saying about flipping the rear leaf rear
shackles. But I really thought that once you did this that you
would need to make some custom setup for the front shackle on the
rear leafs. I see in this thread you guys are saying you don't have
to though. Wouldn't just flipping the rear shackle throw off the pinion
angle real bad?
Yes it does, they make axle shims to correct pinion. They are cheap and come in several angles to pick from. Be sure to get metal though, not aluminum. Your's is not a highboy. Highboy is pre-77 1/2 down F-250 4x4.
i have an 8 inch lift now and if i flip the rear shackle and put 4 inch springs in the front for a total of around 12 can i fit 44's under it.
good luck keeping good axleshafts in it! i wouldn't go more than 40" and even that is not recommended! i have a buddy running a 79 F250 and I can't remember the last time he had 4x4. he is just running 40" ground hawgs so you can imagine they won't hold up to much!
ivanribic! Can you send me some pictures and some measurments of the front lift. i have a class in school right now where i have the whole shop to myself and can work on the front lift. it would be greatly appreciated.
I bought a 79 dana 60 for it a while back, when i put the front lift in i am going to put the front axle in. So on that note will i be able to fit 44's if i do the whole lift.
