Yeah, And I think it was right at $400+tax (That included a port polish and gasket match.) That was Cylinder Sead Service on Frances north side spokane. That included matching Comp cam springs.
the last few times I've traded off the D0VE heads, for D3VE heads. I dont need the high compression, but I do like 9.5 or so, and hardened seats are a plus, as well as the newer rockers.
No they were not Ford guys. I am suspect of the porting job they did. I would love to pull my heads when I go to a new intake and take em down to the guy in Portland that proelator(sp?) has suggested and/or get them flow tested. I also need(want) headers
a pair of fully ported and polished dove heads r the best alternative to aftermarket aluminum heads. the intake aint so bad but the exuast side is horrible. just run ur finger in there and feel around .. u'll feel all sorts of weird bumbs twist and turns. i got a set ported and polished on my 70 T-bird with a 429. and yes higher octane is a must.but i run 10.1 comp ratio if u run lower then that ur ok with lower octane. personally next rebuild im gonna lower the comp ratio to 9.1 ratio. but ya dove heads r a great alternative.
