Interior Light Problem

I have a 99 Expy 4X4 with a 5.4 My dome lights do not come on until the driver's side door is opened all the way. All the other doors cause the lights to come on as soon as I lift the handle. Is this a short in the wiring or a bad switch? If so how do I fix it?

Most of the times the problem is because of the door switch, which is incorporated within the door latch located in the side of each door. Try lubing the door latch area with a generous amount of WD-40, and opening and closing the door several times.

Yeah, I tried the oil trick and still no go! How hard is it to get to the switch? Is it in the door? Or is it on the body by hinge? I have a Haynes manual put did not see it in there.
