EGR Valve question

I see that mustang owners use egr restrictor plates, do they make restrictor plates for a 92 F-150 or do I have to fabricate a plate? Also I had a no start situation dealing with a bad egr valve that was sticking closed, is it a must to have or can I bypass it also?

fordfuelinjection.com says this about the EGR:

"The EGR system recycles burnt exhaust gasses into the intake. This lowers the amount of fuel needed, and lowers toxic Nitrogen Oxides in the emissions. The EGR only operates at highway cruise conditions."

From what I've read on fordfuelinjection.com, the EGR's purpose is to lower NO emissions. There's a sensor (EGR Valve Position Sensor - EVP) that controls the opening and closing of the EGR and relays this info to the computer. On fordfuelinjeciton.com you can buy something called an "EGR Valve Position Sensor Eliminator". Here's what the website says about it:

"The EVP Eliminator plugs into stock wiring harness EVP connector, sending a 0.50volt CLOSED EGR signal to the computer. The computer then knows the EGR is permanently closed. Keeps the annoying CHECK ENGINE light OFF, and more importantly keeps the engine running smoothly. Works on 5.0L Mustang, or ANY other Ford engine that uses a Gray EGR valve position sensor. The gray EGR valve position sensor has a closed reading of 0.24 – 0.67 volts. Without this the computer will assume the EGR is stuck open when removed, causing a rough running engine."

So I'm guessing that the EGR is not a "must have". I guess you'll just be sending out unwanted (by the EPA) NO emissions. I guess it depends on whether or not you're a tree-hugger.

I don't think this has anything to do with being a tree hugger or not. Why would anyone remove a device that improves fuel mileage and has the added benefit of reducing NO emissions. Lets face it, we all breath and I sure don't mind a few extra cents in my pocket.

I was just kidding with the tree-hugger comment. I'd fix it if it was bad.
