I built one for my truck. I bolted angle iron along the sides and front of the box rails and built the cover out of 3/4" plywood and then glued and stretched black vinyl over it. It seals with some weatherstripping around the wood and the water runs out on the angle iron. Its held down with latches at the front and rear(the front ones kinda suck to get at to take it off). Its a perfect flush mount and has held up really well. It looks really good when its shined up with some armour all. Just wish i had a locking tailgate latch and i could actually leave stuff back there.

yes the cover on my 79 crew is from a 94 ford- you can check my gallery I think there is a pic down one of the sides from the rear and then one for above. Let me know if you have any other questions.
