Does anyone know if there is a replacement speedo for a 95? I have the 85 MPH speedo with the LCD odometer and want to get a 120 MPH speedo. Also my odometer blanks out or displays garbage every now and then and I', thinking the LCD connections are contaminated (or just worn out, it's got over 260,000 miles!). I was thinking of a 96 F150 or Bronco but wasn't sure if they would be compatible. Any ideas?
F-series and Bronco components are interchangable for the most part. I don't think there is a PSOM setup for 120 mph readings. I could be wrong but I've never seen nor heard of one. Only possibility may be the PSOM from a Lightning truck. Were they 120 mph gauges? Someone will know.
I guess I should have re-phrased that. What I was actually wondering was, are there any speedo's available from other vehicles that were of the 120MPH variety AND would fit in my truck? I pretty much figured out that I could swap from at least a 94-96 Bronco/F150, but I didn't know if any of these had a 120MPH speedo. The odometer issue was simply a way to justify the expense to my wife...
BTW, what does PSOM mean? Been out of the "forum" scene for too many years I guess.
PSOM = Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module. The later model trucks don't have a cable for the speedo. The gauge is electronic and takes speed information from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) mounted in the top of the rear differential housing.
Nope, you're gonna have to go with a PSOM from a '92-96 Ford truck. Also, the Lightning is the only one that goes over 85 (and I believe it does go to 120).
