Question 59 or 60??

Did the later 59 model F100's start to look like the 60 models?? What I mean is that on the 59 , the hood has the "FORD" in big letters and the grill is just flat bars (you know what I mean) whereas the 60 has just the Ford "medallion" on the hood w/ no letters and a "center bar" on the grille w/ flat bars below it. I am sure mine is a 59, but it has a striking resemblance to a 60. When I bought it, the title had not been renewed (change of owner) since 62, which makes me think it has not been altered. They tend to be sticklers about that in Missouri!! Just wondering!! PS take a look in my gallery for a pic!

The new model 1960 trucks that came out in late 1959 were registered as a 59. You can confirm by the VIN.

Your entire front end is 1960. Check your electrical system, 1960 was the first year for fords fuse block under the dash. -4speed

hey 4 speed, did the 59 have 2 different grills?, the reason for asking is that whlie at a swap on saturday, i got speaking with a guy about his 59 f100 aussie delivered, he pointed out the fact that it came with a 58 grill from the factory and that all 59's over here were the same, i mentioned i had spare grill and bonnet so upon arriving home i ducked out to the farm where i store some gear and noted the grill on the 59 f500 is different again, any ideas?

Here the '59 had only one grill, '58 only had one grill, the 58 looks like it was woven, while the 59, has straight bars going across for a smoother look. Note that 58's and 59's interchange easily. -4speed

Pretty sure the 9 is for the year. It seems also while doing some research for this that I've run across several 59's with what looks like a 60 grille. Maybe a model switch mid-year.

your truck was probably hit or damaged before you bought it or the previous owner didn't like the '59? The biggest pieces you'll need to buy to make your 59 and 59 again, is the hood, gravel pan(I have a nos if you'd like to talk) grille and thats it! Most of which can be found fairly easy. -4speed
