The Prodigy is the best way to go. If you are interested I have one I pulled out of my 02. It's in perfect shape with all of the paperwork and wiring.

Brakesmart

brakesmart bar none

brakesmart.net

ive used tekonshas before and got this and wonder why this didnt come out years and years ago. its hydraulicly porportioned, you put a sensor on the brake master cylinder that measures how much brake pressure your puttting into the pedal, then it sends only that much power to the brakes. its much much smoother brakes last longer, its has alot more finesse to it which is a must on icy snowy wet roads. after having this one i will never buy a differnt controller there worth every penny. easy to install plugged into my harness and it took me about 1 hour to complete everything. theres detailed install instructions and the sensor is easy to put in. i rodeo and haul my horses about 30,000 miles a year and the smoothness is a must.

That Brakesmart does look nice. If I had known about that I would have bought that instead.

The prodigy is a proportional controller also. One good aspect other than easiest set up ever and plug n play (with vehicle specific harness $10) is the boost feature. This feature applies a percentage of the total (when you first apply brakes)when rolling down the road as to not over burden the tow vehicle. When in parking lot a push of the botton and no jerking or skidding.

The controller set up also provides anti-lock braking for the trailer.

Set up is about 10 minutes. Best $100 I ever spent.

The Draw-tite company bought tekonsha, so they now sell the prodigy uner their name. May be able to find a little cheaper. I have seen the prodigy as low as $79. Some Napa stores carry them.

I second the Brakesmart. That thing blows the prodigy away. Right now my prodigy is gathering dust in the back seat.
