hey guys, i just purchased a 4.6L 98 Expy with only 88k miles on it for 11k. i got the dealers to trade my cobra for 11k so it was an equal trade. this thing drives great too! i tested the 4wd modes prior to purchase to make sure it works fine. this thing turns alot better than my cobra and i am sure my insurance will go down with it somewhat. im gonna be adding it to my insurance here shortly!
do they make superchargers for the 4.6L expy's? im just curious for future stuff!
Your expy turns better than your Cobra???
Wish mine did...I have severe body lean in turns (stock suspension/tires). I thought it was the nature of the beast. I am leaning (pun intended ) toward some Bilsteins and larger sway bars.
I'm sure someone makes a blower for the 4.6L in your Expy...check out BBK - they make one for the 4.0 V6 my Ranger had, so they probably make one for the 4.6 as well.
yeah as weird as it sounds, it turns better than my cobra. hell it turns better than my 5.0! anything turns better than my 5.0 LOL! but then again thats my opinion on the steering. it could just be that im sitting up higher than normal and it feels different.
I think that my Expy handles better than a comparably-aged Tahoe. Drove a 1999 Expy and Tahoe back-to-back for several years. Chevy definitely had the engine, but brakes, steering and cornering capability were all on Ford's side. Ford's braking system could be more easily modulated, whereas you had to punch through about 3/4" of slop before brake pedal movement translated into braking action.
speaking of brakes, i have a weird thing with my brakes. when i am stopping from any speed, the brake pedal feels like it vibrates. it will pulse up and down but i hear no noise.
my cobra did that at high speeds slowing down but u could barely feel it. is there something i need to know about brakes on these?
i spoke with the dealership and they said that my rear pads were 50/50 and the fronts were 80%. they said they saw no problems with the rotors and they could go another 14k miles. alot of mechanics i know say to just get the rotors worked and new pads and ill be fine.
