Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and what is it. I hear a Clunk maybe 60% of the time I drive the truck. I does it within about 30 seconds or so of start up and it doesn't seem to matter if I'm just sitting in park or if I have began to move in either forward or reverse. Of course when I had it in at the dealer ship for waranty work (just fixing a small anoying rattle) they couldn't hear or find anything. The truck is a 03 F250 CC Sport V10 4x4, and it is not locked in four wheel drive when it does this, I don't know if does when i'm locked since i've only locked it in a hand full of times. Everything works great and problem free. I figure what ever it is when my three year waranty epires it will be sure to show up. ya know how that seems to work.
mine does the same thing maybe a handful of times though, but i have a 8 in lift, that might be my problem. but i dont see anything wrong and havent experienced anything, so dont know what to tell ya. 01 ext cab diesel
I have noticed the same "clunk" on my 2002 F350 PSD...have never heard it on my 2000 F350 V10. Sorry I don't have any clues to what it might be, just to let you know you are not alone.
I remember reading about this awhile ago...it has to do with a door on the ventilation system. They tend to stick on the seals and after the vacuum builds up enough the door will pop open making the noise you hear, not all the time either. Someone will probably chime in with more specific information I hope.
have the same clunk...It seems to come from the front passenger side...Kinda deep sounding right? I had it b4 and after my lift....It kinda sounds like a large metal gear hitting another piece of metal with cork in between them....
Yeah yeah yeah I know I'm trying to describe a sound over the internet...
if ya find out let us know...I always figured that it was some thing like the hubs? or axle Unengaging??
If the sound is coming from the passenger side it is problably the blend(?) door it shuts once the ac system builds vaccum.... if it is from underneath and you have a 2 piece driveshaft you may want to lube the slipjoint
the thunk is a vent door on the air system.. not a big deal. If it bothers you just make sure your fan is off when you start it up.. that should make it go away. Do a search and you will find tons of threads on this topic.
Actually now that you mention it... Aggie Bonfire is this Saturday night... and I will sure be there... great idea to make that my avatar after this weekend.
Even though it isn't the "traditional bonfire" on campus and everything, it will still be fun. Probably be even more moving this year, since the Aggie Bonfire Memorial is to be dedicated this thursday.
No.. but it is a fire in my backyard lol.
Wow.. bet thats more info than you wanted lol!
gig em
dang how long has it been since the collapse...i have been overseas for to long but if all goes well i will be in the Great State once again this summer first time in over a decade
No really what a slip joint? Is that near the carrier bearing?
Yes, it's behind the carrier bearing. Did you click the link that Autobahn F-250 Lariat posted? Make sure you use the teflon grease - makes a big diff.
