After truck starts if truck motor cold and you press on the gas to hard truck will stall . If you want to start it again I must hold
gas pedal now to floor and shut off fuel injector then can not start it only if it starts then dies . This trucks only does it when it
is cold out side . Does this have something to do with the
idle by pass value ? Or is it some other sensor that takes care
of the engine when it is cold ? If anyone has this problem and has fixed it , please let me know what you did . After truck is
warm it runs with no problem .
It does sound like a sensor problem. The best why to determine which sensor is the problem is to pull the codes from the computer, depending on the year the procedure varies.
You didn't say which engine but you should find it near/on the thottle body, a round canister (film size) with another thing on the end and two wires coming out of that.
The ranger has a 3.0 in it . Thanks for your help .
I will try unpluging the wires when the weather gets
warmer here in Iowa . I will let you know if it works .
Always check for diagnostic trouble codes first. If none!
One possibility for the cold stall is intake air temp sensoer or engine coolant temp sensor or the wiring. If either sees an intermittant open, the processor thinks it is minus 40 degrees. When you hold the throttle wide open the processor is in dechoke mode (no fuel delivery). This condition does not always set a code.
