For the second time now I find myself looking for hubs for my '67 F100 4x4! The first time, I forgot to tighten my right side wheel and it came loose and damaged the drum and egged out a stud hole in the hub (been running w/4 lug nuts since). This time it was Les Schwab! (a west coast tire shop) and the same thing happened on the drivers side only worse! I lost 2 lug nuts and 4 studs were egged out. No reusing this one.
So now the front-end is on blocks and I am very sad!
What I need is both of the hubs and a new drum, the drum is easy and so far the hubs are impossible.
Any advice?
I have thought about looking for a swappable front axle but don't know what to look for and don't think I want to do that much work or change my truck from stock. I think there were only 3400 or so 1/2 ton 4x4's made in 67' and think I should keep her all original.
Guess i'll have to drive my 65 Ranchero for a while,
Jim
Any WARN hub kit should fit right up to 1979 for that front diff. Might be time to just look for a 78/79 front diff with the same gear ratio and do the front disc brake conversion while you're at it. That's the way I went with mine when the front end packed it in. Just as cost effective, with more modern parts, and better stopping capability.
Wheels coming off??? I managed to sledge hammer in my front hubs on my new drums without having them pressed in. Just took wood and got the drum off the floor so the studs wouldn't hit, then started hammering on a piece of wood. I made sure that they were flush on the drum.
