I live in Germany so I am limited to oil choices. I know everyone has there favs, just need some feedback before I go and use Quaker State. I found Quaker State for Diesels and it meets Ford Oil Specs, but was wondering if anyone had ever dealt with QS in Diesels. Also need a reputable on-line company to order oil filters from in the states. I can use a dealer but will pay severly.
I would not worry about quality. The service classification is all that matters. Oil lifespan is mostly determined by the conditions of use. Regular oil changes with the proper grade oil are much more important than whether or not you use Quaker State, Valvoline, Exxon, etc. If you use Synthetic oil you can strech the oil change interval a bit as well having a bit more tolerance to hot temps. I have used Quaker State for years with no problems at all. You hear rumors of wax build-up happening with QS, but that is a load of bull. Never happens.
You could check JCWhitney for oil filters. They have a limited selection of brands, but they carry K&N. I have used K&N filters on my Motorcycle for decades. They are a good name, but I never used them on my car...hope this helps
Penzoil owns Quaker State so they are probably becoming similar. Both of them got low ratings on the oil bible, the wax buildup they mention is normal contamination in dino oil mainly in your filter which is another reason I use synthetic.
A good source for filters is filter1.com or I got mine at www.adiesel.com

Quicker Sludge! Ever wonder why Quaker State has so many adds that say they do not sludge? Pull a valve cover that has had QS in it and it will be ful of what looks like black grease. Don't put this crap on a bike chain much less your motor.
