tires

which 38's would you run: boggers, ssr's, maybe the iroks in a 39.5. this would be goin on a 03 250 psd. since ive been looking around lately at tires, ive noticed that pretty much all of them are goin to get bad wear unless you pay out the wazoo for parnelli's or some others. any other tires that yall recommend would be nice also. thanks

you also need to tell us what you are doing with this truck, but unless it's mostly a race or offroad truck I would stay away from the boggers, they are unreal in the mud, but really lousy on pavement plus they ride rough, and are exceptionally noisy.

i do a good bit muddin in it, but i also drive it everyday. i like the ssr's because they are a radial, still great offroad, get pretty good mileage considering the tread pattern but they are pretty pricey. i like the pj's also but i dont know much about them, if anyone has them or had them, would you give some input on how they did all around. i know they last a long time.

Don't put boggers or IROK's on your truck if you plan to use it on the street much. I planned to buy a set until Fishy posted pictures of his after something like 6,000 miles. I passed out. True, his are bias but I've rear a few reports that the radials aren't lasting a lot longer. They're designed for rock crawlers.

The boggers ride like poo on the road (I see this was already mentioned) and neither them or the IROK's will last long. I don't know a lot about the SSR's on the street but they seem like a decent enough tire. I think they run close to $350 a piece which isn't cheap but that's to be expected for that size a tire in a radial. I have not heard great things about PJs in the mud . . . given that I'd say the SSR's are probably your best choice unless you want to sacrifice some performance in the mud. If I were going to do a more streetable big tire and wasn't as concerned about mud the Goodyear MTR isn't a bad choice. But again, they're pricey.

Actually Ivan, the goodyear MTR outperformed the tsl swamper in one mud test I read in one of the off road mags, and this was actually a test in midwest mud not on rocks so they must not be too bad I can't say from personal experience of coarse but if it can get through a mud bog farther than the tsl then it's doin ok in my book

I have ssr's on my truck and love them. I do mostly pavement driving but they do great in sand (dunes in cali) and the pathetic mud we get in AZ once in a while. I know alot of people that have had (and still run) PJ's and love them. I had a set of PJ's before my ssr's and didn't like them that much, just had alot of balancing problems with 'em.
