Heater core installation

Anybody know how long it takes to replace a heater core? Any other parts I need to get while I'm at the store?
This is only the second part I have had to break. The first was the the cruise deactivation switch. Truck is a couple hundred shy of 99k and 8 yrs old , so I guess I can't complain
Thanks for any info guys.

i just replaced the core in my 97 last night. this was the first time i as well as my brother in law ever did it and it took us 8 hours. make sure you have a big container for screws and bolts and a LOT of patience. this job has to have been the biggest pia i have ever done. the dash has to come out to access that darn box that houses it. any thing you see holding the dash in take it out (pretty much everything) including unbolting the steering wheel and laying on the seat. you may want to get some more of that foam stuff that goes around the core and also new gaskets for the quick disconnect hoses also. treat the blend door with care if you dont put it in right you will have to take it all back apart cause you wont have any heat. dont rush the job and god luck.

8 hrs, hmmm. I guess I'll have to cancel my camping trip this weekend. Saturday will be the only day I have enough time.
Thanks
