Driveshaft bushing replacement
1995 F150 4x4
300 I6
E4OD
My seal is leaking where the driveshaft comes out of the extention to the rear wheels.
I was just going to change the seal ($8) but want to know if there is anything else I should do?
I will check the U-joints and Driveshaft bushing play but if the bushing is bad is it hard to replace?
Anyone done this before?

--jay, if i am reading this right you are referring to the pinion seal between the pinion shaft and the prop shaft flange? I just want to make sure to know that your not talking about the end on the transmission or t case.
If it is the differential pinion seal your referring to it is a fairly simple repair. MAKE SURE!!!!, that you first take a chisel and hammer and make one good strike mark on both the pinion nut and pinion shaft. This is to ensure when you put everything back together the nut is in the same exact position. The nut does not have a torque spec and there is no "just tight enough" position. The nut actually adjusts pinion bearing pre load and too tight or too loose can and will wear the pinion bearing and inevitably the gear set. Also when you put it back together use sealer on the splines of the flange and the pinion shaft. Sometimes diff fluid finds a way to seep between the flange and shaft through the splines and leak out even with a new seal.

lol, read it once more and am thinking you may be talking about the trans out put shaft seal also. If this is the case and you are referring to the bushing that goes around the drive shaft front yoke it rarely fails unless there is a lubrication problem, bad u joint, or out of ballance or bent shaft. It is also easy to replace but the extension housing needs to be seperated from the trans and the bushing pressed out from the inside.
