Jeff,
What do dealer's really use Carfax for. I know they look at it for trades they will keep for themselves but, are they really concerned with a vehicle that they know they will wholesale? For example, I intend to trade in a '97 Mazda B4000 truck that will have about 135K miles on it. It had some front end damage, mostly cosmetic. With that amount of miles, will the dealer spend the money to run a Carfax?
Depends on the dealer. I know we would, because even at auction, a branded or salvage title in NY would make a BIG difference in the truck's value. If the damage to your Mazda doesn't show on a CarFax, then it wouldn't have any real affect.
