I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. I did a search on "tire size" and there were too many results to search through effectively.
I have a 97 Explorer 4dr 4x4 xlt SOHC
I want bigger tires! I like the BFG All-Terrain T/A tires. Currently I am running 275-35-R15 size Bridgestones. They ride great, I just want something with more of an offroad look and better offroad and snow handling.
What are the biggest tires I could get w/o rubbing, and w/o the tires sticking out from the frame so much that I look like a moron. I also plan on getting a couple-inches of body lift sometime down the road, so I'd like to tires to work and look good as it stands now, and in the future after the lift.
I heard that you could go with 31's without too many issues if any. I'd look at the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's though, the BFG A/T's don't perform as well as the Revo's in alot of tests (Though I do like the look of the BFG's). If you like BFG I heard the Radial Mud Terrain tire is pretty sweet (though a bit noisy).
When I posted a similar thread someone said they were running 31x10.5R15s M/Ts on a stock height 99 Explorer with not a problem. Do some searches for past threads and see what others have to say on the matter.
Try B.F.T "Big Fat Tires", that was a thread I started and got some info on things. Besides that I just did ALOT of reading, hehe. Good Luck and let us know what you get, what size and how you lik'em!
