Steering Wheel Loose/4wd noise
Hi guys. I've noticed in my '96 F150 (120,000 miles on the old 300) that I can grab the steering wheel with both hands and move it from side to side. It also makes sort of a scraping noise when I turn it. Is there some sort of bushing that's worn out inside? If so, how do I go about replacing it? Also, ever since I took the semi-automatic hubs out and replaced with Warn, I can hear a thump-thump sound (best description I have) when I turn the wheels sharp, either direction. 4wd works just fine, though. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Inside the column is a set of bearings and the may need replaced. It is not hard to do this but you will need a stearing wheel puller and possible a pivot pin puller! I can't remember if you need the pivot pin puller. This project takes time and attn. to details!

I don't think you will need the pivot pin remover to do this. I just replaced my lower actuator and you need the PPR(Pivot Pin Remover) to do that, but I don't think its required for what you are going to do. You should be able to do that in a couple of hours or so.
