...Moved to General Conversation.....
No I do not mind and it could be a good thread if you guys get down to the facts....and no flaming or telling each other "you don't know what you are talking about"...because I moved it...you might want to let a few folks know why the comparison!

Hey!There is no bull(Taurus)to compare with!I for one am all for giving our military any equiptment that would help. But one thing that pulls my chain is cost.Billions?I think we are now seeing how wars in the future will be played out.Door to door, not fought on battlefields like in the past. So,what sense does it make to have billion dollar bombers that just sit on the runway?I think we should invest more into the soldier.Better body armor, top of the line communication equiptment, bomb sensing equiptment. The enemy of the future is going to use the same tactics we are seeing in Iraq.Hiding in populated areas that we cant bomb without killing innocent people,or hiding in buildings that have religious or historic value,so we cant bomb them either. So the bomber is becoming extinct.Remember the first Gulf war?Remember all the bombs we dropped?Did it stop Sodam Insane? No.It wasn`t until our boys invaded and started kicking bootie. We already have the planes to destroy airstrips, bases,or any other strategic target that might be a threat. But I believe that kind of war is over.

As far as one of the initial comments (Fighter vs. Bomber) in the other thread - the F-117 is prefaced by an "F" because of the arms limitations on Strategic bombers. It is not, and never will be a legitimate fighter - no air to air capabilities. It's mission calls for a variety of air to mud engagements - which means "real world" it's an A-117 or B-117

Actually, an F-117 could theoretically be equipped with AMRAAM's (advanced medium range air to air missiles) or AIM-9 Sidewinder heat seeking missiles. The F-117 has an internal weapons bay that could have any ordinance attached to is weapons pods.

"Could be" and "is effective" are unfortunately two different animals Brent.

The -117 is a slow platform, with (by current standards) low manueverability. Also a VERY expensive platform. _Could_ it launch an AMRAAM (or Sidewinder, or AIM-54) from the internal bay? Certainly - but the last three generations of the BUFF (B-52) can also launch air/air weapons - and nobody's seriously thinking of hanging an "F" in front of the -52

General Atomics has even hung 'winders on Predator - but found that it's not a very effective air to air platform.

F-117 Stealth "fighter" vs. the Ford Taurus. Started on another thread, where someone claimed that the Taurus cost more to develop than the F-117

i think we should drop dodge stealths on the enemy rather than ford tauruses. it would be a practical use of a dodge, and cause no depriciation on the crysler products' part.

Hmmm...seems to me like all those dodges on the side of the road could be employed against enemy targets after all. Dodge, the defense contractor? HAHAHA
