amp wiring questions

i've hooked up amps and subs before, but never on factory unit. i have an 02 explorer xlt, and i was wondering if anyone knows the best place to come through the firewall for the powere wire, and also where do i get power for the turn on lead. or would it just be worth paying my local audio shop 45 dollars to wire the amp for me. thanks any help would be greatly apreciated.

If they only want $45, it might be worth it, assuming you trust them to do a quality job. As far as coming through the firewall, you might want to look directly behind the battery location, for ease of routing if nothing else. It's relatively easy to get to the space behind the glove box.

If you have a automatic transmission use the precut holes where the clutch would come through. Also pick up some rubber gaskets to seal the hole and protect the wires.

Your wires can come from the Acc lead off the wires harness to your radio.

use a volt meter to find the wire that come on when you turn on the radio, like the one that feeds a power antenna.
