Stock Alternator

I have a '98 XL with the 2.9L. Does anyone know what the stock alternator is rated at?

Question 2, I want to install a high output alternator that puts out 200 amps. Is this just a matter of bolting on the new one and attaching the wires, or is this going to mess up my electrical system?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Stock Alternator

All 98 Rangers had 130A alternators, but there were no 2.9L engines in Rangers after 92.

Stock Alternator

Be careful where you take the additional power from, you could damage the wiring or start burning up fuses and/or fusible links. Don't exceed the amp rating of any circuit by plugging in a larger fuse. You'd be better off adding additional circuits for whatever you need to power.
