Does anyone own an FX4 with vibrations happening at >80mph? The truck has done this since day one and now has 5000 mi. I had a 1999 Ranger and it went through 4 drive shafts due to this same problem. The problem being high speed vibrations. Tire balance is fine. Also, anyone have a leaking transfer case? How about a crooked front bumper? Ford quality is in question, once again.
I just bought my 2002 FX4 this past Thursday. I only have 350 miles on it so far. I have not noticed any vibrations as of yet. The only thing I noticed so far is where there is a slight rub between the chrome ring under the tranny shifter and the plastic underneath it. I placed a small piece of rubber where it was rubbing and so far is better.
First of all, I doubt Ford engineers were really concerned about what happens past 80 miles per hour...because you shouldn't be driving that fast anyhow.
Second, it seems that your perception of Ford trucks is negative to begin with. If you go into a new truck purchase with a bad attitude toward the truck, you'll find all kinds of things wrong with it. All trucks are just machines that are mass produced by imperfect humans and therefore they will all have some problems now and then. But if you think Ford trucks suck, then I guess the other brands don't have a chance
the only vibrations that i have noticed on my 02fx4 has been actually in third gear. it seems that the shifter has some play in the gearbox, and vibrates like a mad bumblebee at times. any suggestions?
