My 95 Ranger 3.0L, 5sp has a high idle problem. If I engage the clutch slightly while at a stop, it brings the idle down temporarily. I have replaced the Idle Air Control and the Throttle Position Switch with no luck.
I would pull the codes, both KOEO & KOER, and check the PCV system. It is possible that it might still be a TPS problem, if you need test information send me an email. Vacuum leaks are a common cause of this, if you cover the TB does it shut down.
Hi Glenn.........when you say that the idle is high......what rpm are we suggesting here?....over 1000rpm?......i've owned the same truck with that driveline, found it was the odd characteristics of the PCM programming......putting a load on the eng does bring down the rpm , but as soon as the PCM sees this, it will try to correct that which it sees as an rpm error...there is a way to get around it......55trucker
