New radiator, diesel needs way bigger
New transmission, gas version will not work
Make motor mounts
Make transmission mounts
New rear axle Dana 60 or 70 or Sterling 10.25" to stand the torque.
New transfer case probably, BW 1345 is minimum.
The Dana 44 IFS will not take a diesel very well, recommend a Dana 60 straight axle front end.
New fuel system, diesels have return lines.
Dual batteries so you can get it started.
New drive shafts to stand the torque.
Regear the axles to 3.55's or 4.10's so you can drive over 45 MPH.
And worry about the frame folding up when you get it in a bind.
Plus the motor.
Other than that it will be a piece of cake.
The IDI really does not need much in the way of wiring, glow plugs with the new style controller or manual are easy to wire.
Starter solenoid on the firewall jumps to solenoid on the starter.
Oil light sender hooks to oil light.
Oil guage sender hooks to oil guage.
Temp sender hooks to temp guage.
Ignition wire goes to the IP and the temp switch for the fast idle and timing advance. Wiring is now done.
But if you were going to do a good job on the rest of the mechanical work....that is another story. If you were doing it so it started and moved...well I guess you could cobble it in without that much trouble.
