Lariat question

ever since I purchased a previously owned 2001 F-150 S'crew 4x4 Lariat a few weeks ago I have noticed other Lariats that have the lariat emblem signature on the outside but mine doesn't.... which makes me wonder if the previous owner had the truck painted or if Ford actually put out a lariat without the lariat logo? It has a 4x4 logo that I have not seen on any other 4x4's. Does any one have any info on this? I suspect that the truck was probably painted cause it would not make any sense of Ford doing this unless it was a request... anyhow, just curious.

Looking at your gallery, I'd guess that the previous owner had the Ford pinstriping removed (if it is actually a Lariat). Sharp rims, btw.

I believe a Ford dealer should be able to tell if it's a Lariat based on the VIN.

I think the Lariats come with leather seats and the XLTs don't. Of course there's also the FX4 which has leather or cloth options.

Whatever package it's still a nice truck.

The truck is a Lariat, it has the leather seats and the lariat logo on the seats plus the truck came with the original window sticker when it was bought new where it states it is a Lariat but the lack of exterior logo is misleading I guess but if anything perhaps Rocky J is right in saying that the logos and pin striping were removed...

I think I got a good deal but others don't. I got it for $1000.00 less than the kelly blue book retail value with plenty of extras like a custom sound system with a pioneer mp3 player, diamond audio speakers and bass box (under rear seat) and two rockford fosgate punch amps, just to mention a few.

The only draw back is that it needed new tires which is why I guess it was $1000.00 less than retail value because thats what I paid for the new shoes, 315/75R16's by BF Goodrich. expensive tires but the ride is well worth it!

thanks for the replies.

On my truck the pinstriping is more of a sticker and can be easily removed with a little work. Also, most Lariat's came with a two tone paint job which your truck has if I saw right in the gallery. If you like the truck and are pleased with the deal you got, then I wouldn't let the lack of a sticker bother you too much.
