351 heads

What are the options out there for heads on the 351. I have a 94 f250 4x4. I hear that these factory heads have very small ports. Are they worth porting?

Thanks in advance.

They are worth porting if you DIY or get a deal from a machine shop that will do it for you. The exhaust ports are very restrictive (if you've looked into one, then you know what I mean). If all you do is remove the casting marks and smooth out the runners then it will be an improvement. You can go as far as gasket matching them as well and that'll add a little more.
I wouldn't spend too much money on porting stock iron heads since many aftermarket aluminum heads will outperform them in every way right out of the box, and for not much more $$.

Thanks. Is there a aftermarket head that will interchange easily. I would like to change cam and timing stuff to freshen it up, but I dont want to waste my time if it wont flow anyway. Any suggestion on heads to buy, or better yet, heads not to buy. This truck will likely be my service truck. I dont need it to set track records, but if I cant get gas milege anyway, then I ought to be able to snap a head or two back.

Aftermarket heads will definately help compliment a more aggressive cam.

Out of the box, Trick Flows or AFR's will be your best bet.
