Lariat ??
got a 1990 f150 xlt Lariat, just wondering where the name "LARIAT" comes from ?? I can not find this in any dictionary...
On ebay there are "lariat necklaces" and "lariat internet teaching schools" but what does LARIAT really mean.....?
Just a dumb question...
Thanks for your support.

Lariat
\Lar"i*at\, n. [Sp. la reata the rope; la the + reata rope. Cf. Reata.] A long, slender rope made of hemp or strips of hide, esp. one with a noose; -- used as a lasso for catching cattle, horses, etc., and for picketing a horse so that he can graze without wandering. [Mexico & Western U.S.]
Now I'm not sure if it actually came to be from an Acronym??........would actually make more sense to me.....
that sounds interesting, could not figure that out by myself, got no US English dictionary here.
The F 150 is quite rare here in Germany, and it is a huge / big car compared with all the Smarts and Citroens and Fiats and Audis around. So lot of people ask me a lot of questions, 1st: How much gas does this car need? ( I can not listen to that question any more, it is annoying) and 2nd: What does this L-A-R-I-A-T stands for?
Thanks to your help I could give them a precise answer from now on.
