You have an XLT package, It also included carpet instead of vinyl but could have been ordered with the vinyl in an XLT. The woodgrain is XLT. It is a sweet looking truck Rumpity.

Tilt column does not signify an XLT package, could have been ordered in a custom truck as well.

Question

i've been looking for a box for my 79 for about 2 years now. mine is a fleet side. stepside boxes are everywhere. but you can't even get panels for a fleetside. i found one about a year ago and it was wrecked for a $1000. but if you can't get side panels what good is a wrecked bed

I went for a ride out in the country this afternoon and came across a nice 79' F150 4x4 short box. It was a Ranger, and had the factory tie downs on it. It had a 4" lift, some nice rims and 35's, and the paint looked to be pretty good with no rust on the bed or cab corners. It was dark green with XLT trim down the sides. It didn't have plates on it, so I don't know what the deal was with it - no one was home. Good looking truck though. They're still out there.

The trim is not strictly an XLT part. It could have been ordered as an option on a plain jane custom.

I'm sorry Cra$h, but I still don't see no XLT trim? It may be an XLT underneath, but your original trim is missing. So I guess Truely restored XLT's ARE extremely rare. I ain't seen one yet?

I pick up another project truck this weekend.. 78 f-150 shortbed 4x4, dual shocks and such... The truck overall needs a good amount of work.. But for $400 its a good start.. 302-4spd-it looks like a plain jane but I got to run the vin to see what the real story is ...

The bed is trashed on the inside.. but the fenders are in really good shape. So im gonna swap the rear fenders to a newer short bed and no one will ever know.. he he ... I so smart...

I don't think an XLT is that rare, infact the majority of the truck's that I have had in the past were XLT's.

You have not seen one yet? Take a look at my gallery, you will find plenty of XLT's there.

Based on what I've seen, 2wd shortbeds are quite a bit rarer than 4x4 shortbeds.

THAT'S a very interesting observance. I think you are right! Wonder if someone could pull up statistics on that?

I currently own a '79 F-100 Short bed. I haven't seen to many of them around at all. It needs a lot of work but I do have a '78 302 and an '88 AOD tranny to go with it. The body seems to be in good condition but the bed is in rough shape.

I am looking to get her running and get he body work done, then sell her for a '76 - '79 short bed 4x4. Willing to do an even swap if anyone has got one...
