I just replied to you in another thread, the one about service engine soon. Check out what I said about the EGR valve.
Also, I get 18mpg, with aftermarket intake and exhaust, and driving like a grandmother. 15mpg isnt that bad. Before I cared, I drove like a banshee on wheels with only a k&n drop in and got about 14mpg.
I'm guessing you have an auto, since you are having EGR problems. I have a manual, which is supposedly better on the fuel economy.
Yea i think you are most definetly fine with 15mpg. Just be worried if you get 12, like me. I think I solved my problem though, since I had about 25 psi in my tires lol.

Supposed to be..When I checked out specs fpr 4.2 aup and manual trannys when I fist bought my truck...Manuals only ger 1 mpg better in city than autos
I don't know about you guys, but I think my truck burns alot of gas(the most Gas), to much, when I start it up. I get 17-18 mpg also, but my fuel gauge moves a little at every crank. these 4.2's are beasts

I haven't noticed that.....I have however started warming her up every morning or first start after sitting. at least a minute, or if i have time, a few minutes. Sometimes i'll start her up and do a few things, and by the time i get back in, the temp. gauge has started to move
rick it'll depend on how you drive it. If you get 19/20 right now im guessing that you drive pretty conservatively, and getting the MAC and catback will probably make it better for you. Although the sound of the two mod's will probably cause you to drive harder, to get that sound out....
i agree on that.. I'm just now gettin over my smash it to the floor for the exhaust stage. And i've had mine on for about 7-8 months now. and i find that it sounds better when in lower rpms neways..
It's an 8.8 rear end differential and holds 2 quarts of 75-90 full synthetic (recommended) or 80-90 regular diff. oil. You will either have stock 3.08 or 3.55 gears, and (just so you'll know) our differentials are the exact same differentials off of a V6 mustang. And yes, a detroit locker will work perfectly fine if you were wondering.
It'll be stamped on a tag on your rear diff cover. it's either 3.08 or 3.55 as previously stated. 8.8 31 spline. Detroit locker is the best. I've been researching this for the past year. I do alot of off roading and at first purchased an Auburn for drag racing, but it's not very good offroad because it's not a true locker and does not work in reverse. Detroits are the best but expensive at over 500 bucks plus another 300 for install. Why do you desire the Detroit? Do you do alot of muddin/rock climbing?
MPG on my stock 2000 2wd with 3.55 gears and 5spd is 19/20 mpg. Will it get better or worse with MAC intake and cat back exhaust?
I have the same setup in the 2001 model. What do you shift out at to get 19/20mpg. I get 17, conservative. I am assuuming you run stock plugs, wires, etc.
