I purchased a complete remanufactured 302 on ebay. The engine was purchased by the original owner through AutoZone to go into a 1989 F-150; however, he had some change of plans and couldn't return the engine (too much time had elapsed). The engine was remanufactured by Recon Engines.
Now I need to purchase the rest of the parts to get it running. Since I don't have a 302 engine or parts, I'm debating on purchasing a Serpentine Belt system. Any thoughts on this route versus new stock parts? Also, the 89 F150 used fuel injection, can I get an aftermarket intake and set the engine up for a carberator? I'm trying to make the engine simple to manage and work on.
yes you can get either serp or v belt they will both bolt up. you may need to do some searching through the junk yard though. you can also get any carbed manifold and make it carbed. i would get a performer rpm or a wiend stealth manifold with a 600 holley if its a mild built engine
If this a correct replacement block for the '89 you will have a port at the back of the block (on top) for a knock sensor. Just use a threaded plug to block it, or else you'll have an oil gusher.
