2.3 problem

Hey folks
Slightly off topic, but I've tried Turboford to no avail. My mom has an 88 T-bird with the 2.3 turbo engine. It recently developed a miss that occured regardless of Load or RPM. After much checking I found out that with the spout connector off, the engine ran smooth. Hook up the spout connector, and the miss is actually the timing momentarily dropping to 0. I've got no codes from the computer, and at this point Im out of ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated.
