[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Jan-02 AT 07:07 PM (EST)]Ihave a 1992 Ranger Extended cab that leaks water at the body seam where the top meets the windshield posts.
I have been told that this is common for this vintage of Ranger.
Does any one had this experience, and know of the proper fix?
I'm working on the same problem on an 89, leaks water down on the parking brake. I can seal it from the inside by putting sealant at the joint from under the dash but I have tried sealing every place I can find by the fender and in the cowl with no luck.
I've done some recent work on my Dad's Ranger where he had leaks at the lower corners of the front floor and one by the top left corner of the windshield.
I don't remember the name of the product but I used something similar to butyl caulking to seal the window. It's black and rubbery. Takes about a week to seal solid. I bought at a local auto glass repair shop about two years ago. The label fell off so I can't tell you what the name is. But I think most glass shops will carry something similar. I had to remove the trim off the windshield to get under it. I used silicone once before but it didn't last.
:-X11 My 96 Ranger is leaking on the passenger side too. I pour a little water on the lower left of the windshield and you can see it coming in on the floor of the cab. I had a mechanic tell me it could be a drain of some sort plugged with leaves. He wanted to take off a couple of body panels to get to the drain to un-plug it. Anyone ever here of that before? The caulking sounds cheaper..but will it last.
