Starts Up Then Stalls
first the truck wouldn't start at all... that's old news. now it starts, made lots of smoke at first, but will run long as you floor the gas like a lunatic.
changed the fuel filter, checked there was gas coming from the line. took off the IAC air valve thing and cleaned it. pressed the valve on the fuel rail gas came out there as well.
added some gas and a bottle of gas additive
sprayed a few shots of engine start fluid in the bare throttle body and it started up after a couple tries doing that.. ran really rough and died at low Rpm, had to punch the gas to keep it going. put the IAC back on nice and clean. started it again. still have to keep my foot on the gas. built up oil pressure and seemed the temp was climbing fast too for a cold day.
now it warmed up it starts easy but still stalls as soon as i let my foot off the gas.
truck was running fine till it wouldn't start the other day. only problem before that was a little stumbling during acceleration till you punch the gas and made it move. that and code 41 from cointinuous memory
going to change the PCV valve once i find it. '90 302 auto. all i see is this plastic hose from the oil filler neck to the air box
want to check fuel pressure once i get the guage tool.. can i test it using the valve on the fuel rail?
vacuum lines.. where are they? could it be problem with the mysterious pressure regulator that is so hard to reach. having a hard time locating these. usually post in the non-automotive section so this is all new to me
