Smile Exhaust systems

I just started looking at exhaust systems. In a "turbo back" installation, does the cat stay or is it removed (I assume removing it is a big no-no). If it does stay,is there still a performance gain and a cooler EGT temp ? I see stainless systems and also aluminum. There is a big price difference. I am sure that the "buy the best that you can afford" applies, but is there anything wrong with a cheaper system? Most of my research has been on the MBRB pipes, and Banks seems to be a big name. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just installed a MBRP T-409 Turbo back system. The factory cat was retained but a "test pipe" can bought that will eliminate the cat. The install was straight forward. I had a little problem with the down pipe but patience prevaled. The sound is not much louder than stock but it does have a nice low rumble. I don't have gauges and can't report on EGT's. The fit and quality were better than average. With the Predator set on 65 the truck is unreal!Sam

You will need to buy a 4inch cat unless the kit comes with one. there is about a 100 dollar diffence between Al and SS. I forgot which brand I went with but I am sure that most of the names are good.

Leave the CAT and buy from MotorHaven, best price, best delivery and they are one of our main sponsors...with out them we would not be having this conversation...
