my son drives a 1985 f150.a couple of days ago the headlights started flashing on and off like they were blinkers.anyone know whats going on?thanks for any suggestions.
did the flashing happen while hitting bumps in the road if so this may not just be a ground i would also check the plugs into the bulb its self ive had many of those connections corrode and cause similar problems but the corrosion may be inside the plastic boot where you cant really check it out all that good some boots are a solid pece of plastic that cant be visualy inspected however i have also seen some with removable backs not really sure what they run i usualy have a few parts trucks sitting arround
i usualy check them out by un plugging the bulbs stripping back about 1/2 inch of wire coating from the hot wire and the ground and using a pece of heavy speaker wire with alligator clips on each end clip to the hot wire and ground wire then at the other end of the spaker wire connect it to the bulb in the same locations on the bulb tabs as they connect into the plug after that process is complete please remember to electrical tape the bare parts of the harness forgot once big mess
Loose ground connection to the lighting circuit, or possibly the dimmer (high/low beam)switch has a loose connection or is bad, replacing it will cure the flashing, or no lights situation.
