Unhappy Newbie Needs HELP

This is my first post, but I've been looking at the site for several days now and I decided to register. From the postings and replies I've read so far, this forum appears to be quite friendly and informational.

I do have a query however. I own an '03 6.0L PSD DRW CC Lariat (Build date May-03). I use this truck extensively for work, and with the rising cost of fuel, I'm always looking for ways to improve performance and most of all mileage. I replaced my stock exhaust with a 4" "Flowpro" system and I replaced the stock air filter with an "AFE" system. These two items appeared to make a difference, however I'm still wondering about 2 things.
1) My truck has the Oct 03 Flash installed and I'm noticing a lot more smoke, especially after warmup and extended idle, and low bottom-end torque. Would it be wise to get the latest flash?
2.) Does anyone know if the "Superchips" model 1704 will work for the '03 6.0, and if so, is it worth installing? I do a lot of towing.

Thanks

There is a new flash out for the 03. Go get it. Tell them you are having hesitation problems. Try that first.

what kind of mileage gains did you see with the exhaust and intake mods? was there any noticable difference in the driving characteristics with these mods good or bad?

I found the turbo seemed to spool up quicker, and I did notice about 1 MPG improvement.

Yes the SCMT 1704 will work with the '03 PSD.

Depending upon conditions and how you drive the truck, you should expect to see some improvement in mileage. I have seen as much as a 10% improvement in mileage while towing.

I haven't done enough driving out on the highway to say if there's any improvement in that with the SCMT - though some have reported gains.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a contract hauler (8-10K miles per month) so I look for any advantage I can get when it comes to mileage and performance. I haul mostly RV's and horse trailers, and none over 14,500 GVWR. I value your opinion. Thanks again!!
