Loose, sloppy shifter...
'93 E-250, 6 cyl.
The shifter has been 'loose' for a while. It wasn't going all the way into park most of the time. Today a screw (roughly 3/16" X 3/4", torx head) fell out! Now I can just barely find R and D.
I did try a search, but could not find anything relevant. Can anyone tell me how to go about getting to the darned shifter? I think the ign switch has to come off just to get the plastic cover off. Bottom cover came right off. I don't even know where the screw came from, or what part I need to get to in there.
If any of this matters:
I6 engine
O/D switch on end of shifter
Air bag
Horn has not worked as long as I've owned it. Clockspring, I think (code flashing) CLICK & CLACK black tape repair kit installed!
NOT a tilt wheel (if any are)
255K miles
THANKS in advance, if anyone can offer suggestions, tips, HELP!

THANK YOU!
Wow, pictures with circles and arrows, and everything!
At first it looked like it would be hard to get to, but with a flashlight, mirror, and the right driver, it was cake! Just took a few minutes.
I really appreciate the response. If I had to wait to take it to the shop tomorrow, I'd have had to reschedule a job, lost a day's pay, etc.
Where do I send your beer?
One last question. Is there supposed to be a nut on the stud in between those two screws? I don't see one in the pic, and there isn't one on my van. It is working like new, now.
P.S.- There was nothing on this subject in my 'Haynes', or in the Chiltons at the store. Where did you find the pic, and what's a good book to buy? Thanks.

Beer is too hard to send...money is better

kidding!!!
No there isn't supposed to be anything on that stud.
I use a genuine Ford shop manual on DVD. The picture I posted isn't actually for an Econoline but it's close enough. I didn't have your year of van on my DVD.
If you snoop around on Ebay you can usually find genuine Ford manuals for good prices. The Ford manuals are made for dealership techs and can be somewhat hard to follow sometimes as they assume that you are a tech and have had Ford training.
