I bought a nice 89 f150 4 months ago however the other owner switched engines. Orignally had a 5.8 with the overdrive trans. Now has a 5.0 with a C-6 trans. 4X4. He did not change the computer so it did not run . I have the 5.8 comp. I bought a comp from napa and was very exited to get the truck going. At the store they were going to take the chip out of the old one and put it in the new one. Well, that would defeat the purpose. So I got my money back. Any one have a comp for sale? Or is there a place that will sell me a comp with the chip in it?

Not sure on the which Cal # . Any help would be great. Ken
I just went to autozone.com and typed in your truck, and they have a
O.E.M. #E9TF-12A650-AUA
All the others were E8TF-12A650-??
They showed 12 different computers, 11 of them were E8TF-12A650-?? with the ?? being different letters, and the last one was the one that matches the one you wanted except for the "F" instead of the "E", and the last three letters.
Do they include some sort of chip? I don't know that either.
I believe the E9 means 1989 and the E8 means 1988. It's not unusual for a 1989 truck to have 1988 parts installed in it.
Thanks for the info, but I already checked with them ( No Chip) Then I asked them If I did not have a core and paid the $90 core charge would it come with a chip. Of coarse Not.
So I guess if you fried your comp some how, too bad.
try a junk yard that specializes in trucks
have one about 40 mins away from me they had parts for my dads 2000 F150
they might have you a computer
They are called United truck and Van if you PM me i'll give you the phone number might be able to get them to ship it
they are good people.
they are based out of Hopkinsville KY
You can try www.car-part.com. It will find parts for you, but I looked in Wisconsin and none of the junkyards there had one. If you go there look for "computer box". They have a listing choice for an 89 with a 5.0 and c6.
