transmission problem
i have a 1988 bronco 351 a/t size unknown but stock
when i start the truck,and put it in drive ..it takes about a min for it to go into gear
but if i put it into reverse, it will move right away
and yes i did check the fluid and it is fine
once it moves in drive it shifts fine

If you move it directly into 2nd instead of Drive, does it still take a minute to go into gear? If not, it could be a simple adjustment on the linkage and that it just needs to go a hair farther into the drive position.
Otherwise, when was the last time the tranny was serviced? filter? fluid flush?
Could be a simple fix here.
