blower motor resistor

blower motor resistor
I have a 98 ranger. I blew the blower motor resistor, or so I have been told by everyone I talk to because I only get the high speed on my fan. My question is, where is the blower motor resistor? I haven't been able to get a diffinetive answer from anyone I talk to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
My '98 is doing the same thing.
Looking into the engine bay, the fan motor is located at the back on the passenger side. You will see some wires attached to it via a connector. I believe that this connector is attached to the resitor. The resistor should be held in by two bolts/screws.
I stopped into the local parts store and they told me that I can only get this part from the dealer - based on other threads - I am not sure this is true.
Question: Is this fix pretty straightforward? I mean can someone with limited mechanical repair knowledge - but a fair bit of common sense replace it?

Oh, as for the local parts store -that was in Ottawa ON.
