I have a 79 ford 150-V-8. that will run fine for 5-20 miles then quit as if ign was turned off. It seems like when I start testing wires, spark, ign mod. it will the again start which is making it somewhat difficult to diagnose. it is not a fuel prob. It seems like when it gives trouble it is getting no spark. I have tuned it and changed coil. I am going to tryy to test the ign module now. Just wanted to see if anyone had any good tips, its been awile since i have worked on these. I have been converted to a diesel man mainly..Thanks...Jim
i agree with rainbow check the mod, the main problem with those old mods like that is that they are really heat sensitive, next chance you get go grab a bunch from a junk yard and keep one in you glovebox
All,
When you reinstall the duraspark ignition module, put a couple of washer down to shim the unit away from the fender. This will allow heat to dissapate better.
PS Just replace the module right now. Don't mess with diagnosis. It's not worth it.
