2.8 4.0 question

will a 2.8's transmission bolt up to a 4.0?

Automatic? I don't know anything about the manuals, but I know that the 2.9L had softer parts in the transmission. Like when I add the mustang parts to my 2.9L the auto tranny will not hold and I'll have to go to the 4.0 transmission. The 4.0 has a lot more horse power and torque than a 2.8... As far as I know the bolt patterns are the same, you'll have to look to make sure before attempting the swap. It should work for a little while, but you have a risk for blowing it out again. Not sure how that 4.0 ECU will like the 2.8 auto..

it is a 2.8's five speed manual transmission. does anybody know if the motor mounts are different from a 2.8 to a 4.0? I would assume they're different but don't actually know.
