Greetings - New to this forum, but I've been browsing for about 2 years and I know that there is a lot of expertise available.
My left front spring sags about 2 inches lower than the right side. Anyone know the "in tolerance" specs for this? I'm under warranty and want to be able to intelligently discuss this point with the service department.
Thanks for the info. I'll do some measuring again this weekend and head to the dealer. I am at 35,200 miles, no time to lose to get them to replace a defective spring.
I had a similar problem on my '02. Was at the dealer 3 times before finally getting resolution under warranty. My problem was there from the beginning, but I believe it worsened over time. I did not pursue resolution until about 38K miles (i have the 100k warranty). The left side sagged noticably in the front, and to a certain extend in the rear. After numerous discussions, the Director of service at my dealer finally took the time to look into it. First they replaced the front springs, and this took some of the sag out, but not all. Then they replaced the rear springs, as well as used shims (according to the dealer, they are available from Ford for correcting up to 1/2 inch of lean) to fine tune it. The truck now sits level and I'm thrilled !
Dont let them tell you it's normal... for $35K you deserve a level ride.
Thanks again. I measured again yesterday and found that both springs are down. Left 2.5 in, right 3.25. When I measured earlier and found the "2 in" difference, I was measuring at a different point, but I think the right has dropped some in the last few months. I have been watching this for sometime. Interesting that the truck doesn't pull left or right and never has. I've never had it "off road", just some dirt / gravel roads around new home construction near our home. I plan to visit the dealer later this week and start the process of getting these fixed.
