tranny problems
I have an 02 F150 with 68,000 miles, it has developed a noise, I have been told by a private repair shop that the planetary gears are causing the problem. Is this a common failure with this few miles? Any suggestions for best repair?

Did they take apart the transmission to determine that? If not, (which I doubt) there is no way to really tell. I would try another place. It is possible, but they can't really diagnose that kind of problem without disassembling the unit. It is completely possible that the problem is internal, in which case you need it rebuilt. 
Mine needs it too, but I have no real interest in paying that much, so as long as its just a nuisence, it will have to wait.
